This post is slightly inspired by my previous post about the artist Conrad Roset. Today I bring you photographer/illustrator Kelly Thompson. I fell in love with her work as she captures "moments"- they seem so free and effortless. You can really see the movement in her work and it makes me want to get up a move!

To have and to hold

July 26, 2011
I have been going to a lot of weddings recently and wanted to do a quick post on what I've been packing for the weekend trips and some tips on how to dress for a wedding :)

Dress- Vintage Missioni, Sunglasses-Polaroid, Bracelets-Kara Ross & Vintage, Necklace-Vintage(thank you Norma), Shoes-Birthday Present from Mom#2 thank you! Delman
1. It is important to wear something that is not only comfortable, but breathable as well- you will be dancing a lot and need a fabric that will move with you.
2. Don' be afraid to mix patterns to spice up the outfit! As long as they are in the same color family, you're good to go.
3. Having no luck finding a dress? Mix a vintage dress (one that hasn't left your closet in years!) with a new accessory and shoe

Young Love

July 21, 2011
If you know me by now, you know how much I love Johnny Depp and Kate Moss (my last post on this young love couple), especially when they were an item. They were so young, free and confident. I love looking at old images of the pair! Their style and confidence inspires me constantly.

What do you think of this pair? Wish they were still together?

Boy Meets DIY Girl!

July 20, 2011
One of our awesome interns Sam, who is now home for the summer but returning to work with us in the fall did an awesome DIY Boy Meets Girl(R) beaded top! Check out her simple and easy steps below:

Supplies: 1 pen, 1 shirt, 1 pair of scissors, 1 ruler, plenty of pony beads (sold at your local craft store)

1. Cut the hem

2. Make marks via pen at the bottom of the shirt 1 cm apart from each other - do this across the shirt on the front side (use a ruler to measure the marks)

3. Choose how high vertically you would like the fringes to go then make a couple of marker points horizontally at that point. (our example is 8 inches high on a size large shirt)

4. Cut the 1cm points vertically to the point where you would like your fringe pieces to stop (the second point your made on the shirt) do this on both sides of the shirt! To make it easy you CAN cut on both layers.

5. String beads at random, in a pattern, or in a design depending on what your heart desires. Choose to make all your strands have the same amount of beads (like ours - we did 6!) or have random amounts on each fringe.

6. Make sure to double knot each string of beads.

7. Voila! You have a banging tee shirt!

Thanks Dj Platform!

Excited to have you back in September :)

Career Day with Latin High School Student Katie! 7/19

July 19, 2011
This past Friday was such a great day! I had a Latin High School student come visit me at my Boy Meets Girl(R) office all the way from my home town Chicago! Katie, a soon-to-be Senior won an auction item where the prize was to spend a day with me at my Boy Meets Girl(R) office and learn about the world of a fashion designer. I also went to Latin and it was so fun talking to Katie about teachers that are still at Latin, what has changed about the school and what is still the same. It was all very nostalgic to say the least ;)

Part of Katie's career day was to style Boy Meets Girl(R) outfits! She was a natural and had fun posing for pics! Check out the three outfits she styled below:

Outfit 1:  Expedition Utility Dress, Steadfast Blazer, Seychelles for Boy Meets Girl(R) Wedges
Outfit 2:  Expedition Utility Dress
Outfit 3:Don't Stop Crop Top, My City Legging
Outfit 4: Over and Under Top, Paramount Pant

Of course I had to do a short video to recap on the day!

And to wrap things up, Katie filled out a fun Q& know how much I love Q&A's ;)

Friday's Nautical Finds

July 15, 2011
One of my favorite trends is the Nautical trend- it's such a classic and clean look, I love wearing these pieces in the summer! These two pieces, the Boy Meets Girl® Defiant Jumper layered with the Time Tee is a perfect combination for any day at the beach. Just the other weekend, I wore the jumper over my bathing suit and was so happy with my choice because it was easy to move in and easy to slip on and off.

Boy Meets Girl® Defiant Jumper, $46.00
Boy Meets Girl® Time Tee, $21.00

What is your favorite nautical piece?

DIY- from old to new

July 14, 2011
I've always loved DIY projects and it's fun to see what turns out especially if you didn't have a plan to begin with! DJ London wanted to share a DIY project she did after one of her bracelets broke..but she decided to turn the old into new again :) Check it out below.

The bracelet below is one of my favorites- it has pearls of different shapes and colors with a beautiful clasp. But the chain on one side of the bracelet broke :(

While rummaging through my jewelry I noticed I had a necklace chain with the perfect clasp to secure the bracelet!
Final result?

This is a very simple DIY project- with the right pieces, you can turn any piece of jewelry into brand new. Enjoy! DJ London (aka Michelle)

Love this new version of DJ London's bracelet. Hmm I might need to make an order on this one. Thanks for sharing this quick DIY tip. Love Love :)

Boy Meets Triathlete Girl!

July 13, 2011
I love meeting new people, whether its through my world of fashion, mutual friend or at an event. But when I meet somebody via my blog(SOCIAL MEDIA) I think that's pretty awesome ;) About a month ago I received an email from Jenna Parker, a world ranked professional triathlete and multi-talented woman. One day she was browsing the internet and googled the band Foster the People and found a  past blog post I did about this amazing band. Low and behold she happened to date FTP drummer Mark Pontius! We started emailing back and forth and I finally got to meet her at my Boy Meets Girl(R) office :) She was such a delight and what an impressive person! Check out the video of our meeting below:

Good luck in everything that you do Jenna and I hope to see you sooner than later!

Kohl's Trip!

July 12, 2011
About two weeks ago I went on a special shopping trip with my mom and found myself falling in love with the mall we went to in NJ and KOHL'S. I couldn't believe the items I found! Not only were they affordable but stylish as well! I fell in love with this adorable cocktail dress which I wore one weekend in the Hamptons.
Can you guess how much this dress cost?? The person who guesses closest to the actual price of my dress without going over will be rewarded with a special gift from me and my line Boy Meets Girl(R). All you have to do is “Like” Boy Meets Girl on Facebook and submit your guess by completing the sentence. “I think Stacy paid ___ for this dress.”

Who is this Boy in the Picture?

Winner will be chosen this Friday July 15th!

Good Luck!

Music Mondays- The Girl (City and Colour)

July 11, 2011
I first came across this band not too long ago.  This music is different from a lot of things I'm used to.
I feel at peace when I listen this song. Yes it has been on repeat in my office similar to Alexi Murdoch. The repeat button just keeps going and going :) Enjoy the Polyvore Set ;)

Duane Reade Grand Opening Party Coverge one word AMAZING

July 6, 2011
I was invited to attend the grand opening party for Duane Reade on 40 Wall Street last night. I had no idea  what I would find when I got there. One word AMAZING! I felt like I had walked into a new department store. I actually asked the people who checked me in if I was at the right party! Props to Duane Reade for thinking soooo out of the box- a Salon in Duane Reade? Who ever thought this would happen? Below I captured some shots on my blackberry & droid of the people I met and the things I saw and my nail experience with the amazing nail technician Barbara. I did not make it over to the smoothie bar or the sushi section but promise to have some special video coverage coming soon for more details :)

Check out the ceilings and arches and my friend Ted Rubin in this picture below :)
 These Columns are extraordinary

My new friends Blogger Rachel Ferrucci & Owner/Director of Digital Media of Smarties Candy Liz Dee
We were excited to find Liz's candies selling at Duane Reade. I was sooo excited to meet one of the family owners of this amazing candy I have been eating since I was a little girl. Looking forward to collaborating with both Rachel and Liz soon!

What there is a SALON in DUANE READE? Seriously one stop shopping and services. What is next?

I love cracked Mirrors which resided in the nail area. So beautiful it makes me want to get my nails done in Duane Reade all the time :)
Below is the amazing Barbara she is a celebrity nail technician whose first day on the job was yesterday. She did my nails that were not manicured in weeks and made them look gorgeous. I fell in love with Barbara and have so much more to tell you about her. So will leave that to my video post coming soon.
