Memory Lane Mondays

February 27, 2012
After NYFW I decided to go on a mini weekend getaway and spend time with my mom and sister which was so needed. Girl time is always refreshing! Oh and yes the boys were there too :) I think the pictures can explain my feeling of Zen.

How was your weekend?

Friday Finds: Smokey Blue Eyes

February 24, 2012
I loved the way my makeup was done for my "Behind the Seams with Stacy Igel" on Lockerz.com party last week, especially the way the Ulta Beauty Expert did my smokey eyes! I had showed the team at Ulta a few pictures that I had seen of the Artist Lykke Li's eyes for inspiration.. see below!

I had never done blues or grays before but took the chance and I loved what Ulta did.
Here are some fun images from the party of my dazzling eyes :)

What do you think of this smokey eye look?

Friday Finds: NYFW comes to an end...

February 17, 2012
Fashion Week ended with a bang! This time around I did a fun collaborative show with Junk Food and Monopoly by Junk Food Art House called "Money Can't Buy Happiness" presented by Style 360!  I got to design the Banker and Income tax pieces which was so much fun!

It was a very creative and unique theme and I loved working with everyone on board!
Thank you Claudine De Sola of Caravan Stylist Studio, LuxeLife Media and Style 360 for putting on an unforgettable show! Also thank you to my incredible DJ team for being amazing!!!

Check out more great footage from the show here on my Facebook pages and Getty & Wire Image (click on the names and it will take you there, enjoy!)

Elsa Klensch would be Proud ...MY Coverage of some great NYFW Fa'2012 shows/designers...

February 14, 2012
Badgley Mischka Fall 2012 NYFW
Thank you Elsa Klensch for teaching me the ropes of covering NYFW (a true mentor). For those of you who do not know the amazing Elsa Klensch... I will make sure to report more on her soon. But, keeping it brief today. Elsa was the FIRST to cover NYFW with "Style with Elsa Klensch" on CNN and I got to be part of her team covering the House of Verdura, Marc Jacobs, Kenneth Cole, Donna Karan and the list goes on. I know she would be proud of my latest venture with Behind the Seams(TM) with Stacy Igel on Lockerz.com and look forward to hopefully collaborating with her in the future.

Let me take you Behind the Seams(TM) of two brilliant designers' shows that I attended this week, Badgley Mischka & Viktor Luna. There are so many different reasons why I love NYFW and so much I want to share, but am going to break up my posts as I believe less is more.

Designer: Badgley Mischka (Mark & James) Runway Show
I took this one from my seat. The runway was a mirror so this is the reflection of the front row. love this shot!
The printed maxi length skirt was a stand out here, paired with the scenic background drop

Cold Shoulder theme standouts
Power Suiting A+

Beautiful Ending!

Designer: Viktor Luna NYFW Presentation
Maxi length wow dress with fur detailing & my favorite leather cutoff mustard gloves (yes you know I rock gloves all the time so this was a great touch)
Obsessed with these printed bottoms
Cold Shoulder theme standouts

More Rad hot printed pants
my favorite color PURPLE leather gloves mixed with printed skirt

Touches of pop color with fur vests
Me and the adorable Viktor Luna

Overall DESIGN DETAIL & THEME STANDOUTS I took from both shows
  • Printed Hot Pants still strong and HOT
  • Fur layering Vests/Sleevels/Neck ...but I would opt for Faux Fur or Vintage Fur
  • Cold Shoulder Tops/Dresses
  • Maxi length dresses
  • Power Suiting
  • Touches of color like Purple/Mustard
  • Gold
  • Strong Shoulders
  • Twist on the traditional Bomber jacket
Thank you to the amazing, talented designers for having me at your shows. I love capturing talent like yours. All photos shot on my Iphone4S and will be in my Instagram here as well as my Collections coverage on Fall 2012 NYFW on Lockerz.com here!

What do you think of the Designers design details & themes captured here?

Essentials for Surviving NY Fashion Week February 2012!

February 13, 2012

This week my crazy schedule is filled with my own collaborative NYFW show with Junk Food and Hasbro on Wednesday. I am so excited to tell you more about this show. But, I will keep it a surprise and update later this week to share with you all the elements of the show :)
On top of my own show,  I am attending some amazing designers shows (which I will also report on via my many social media outlets as well as here on the highlights this week), and of course some fun parties.  It can be very exhausting but totally rewarding :)

So I prepared a few of my essentials for surviving NY Fashion Week (what I will be wearing and how I stay sane (well try too):

For the week: Seychelles shoes & one of favorite vintage coats

Outfit Day 1
Jbrand jeans, LTR tunic, Ecote burnout velvet jacket, W118 by Walter Baker lace blazer

Jewelry
Kara Ross bracelet, NameTag Vintage Bracelets, Asha Ring

Outfit Day 2
Boy Meets Girl tee, Elie Tahari suede pants, #sportscollar by Karl Lagerfeld for Net A Porter,
Mark +  James by Badgley Mischka, Banana Republic Blazer

 Jewelry
Vintage mixed with Stella & Dot, LF ring, Vintage #sportscollars pins

Outfit Day 3
Theory, Boy Meets Girl tights, Kensie Dress, #sportscollars  pins

 Jewelry
Vintage bag & #sportscollars vintage pins

Below are items I try to make sure I keep on top of during this week...

1.    Drink A LOT of water. Staying hydrated is key when you're moving non stop!
2.    Pack almonds or sunflower seeds in your purse for quick snacks on the go.
3.    Layer it up! It's cold in NYC this time of year so I made sure each outfit had many layers to keep me warm and toasty!
4.    Comfortable shoes, undies & socks! Need I say more?

5.    Carry around a small notebook and pen where ever you go. You never know when a creative idea will spark!
6.   And never forget your Iphone. Perfect for all the photos that inspire you.
