My tips: Saving vs. Splurging

June 21, 2013
Happy Friday! Shopping this weekend?  As you might have seen in my birthday post here sometimes a girl needs to splurge, especially on a birthday bag! :) Retail Therapy, however, can be done by finding inexpensive pieces too.

Check out My tips for splurging vs. saving!

1. Splurge on classic & basics staples-
Find items that you know you will wear all the time and will have forever so this will justify the spend.
-Black cardigan
-Black blazer
-White blazer
-Great pair of jeans
-Classic white tee shirt and white button up
-Tan Trench coat
-Classic handbag
-Nude patent leather heels
-Black booties

2. Save on trendy items-
Loving the peplum trend that you have seen in every magazine and/or runway and on every celebrity? Great! Forever 21, H&M, and Target have great and affordable trendy tops that won't break your bank and you won't feel like your out of a lot of money when it makes its way to the back of your closet next season!

3. Splurge on something you REALLY REALLY love!
The saying goes "If you love something then let it go," or something like that! And I believe sometimes this can be true when you're shopping including shopping vintage. If you see something in the store and you're like I gotta have it, maybe don't buy it right away! Walk around the rest of the store, check out other stores for similar styles, maybe even go home and come back a week later! Think about it some more. "What can I wear it with?" "How many times can I wear it? And then you should have a clear answer on if it's going to be worth it!

What do you like to save and splurge on?

what I wore: California Day to Night

June 19, 2013
Black and white is one of my absolute favorite trends right now! It's classic yet still modern and fun! Recently I traveled to La La Land for some work meetings. This dress was easy to travel with and great taking me from day into the wee hours of the night.
 Dress: Alice and Olivia
Sports Collar pins: Boy Meets Girl®
Bracelet: Kara Ross vintage but similar here
Ring: Asha by ADM(I wear this ring almost everyday)

What have you been wearing from Day to Night lately?

"Laugh as much as you breathe and love as long as you live."
- Johnny Depp

Last week you saw these lovely ladies, Meghan and Allie, in the Boy Meets Sporty Girl #beoneofakind shoot, and this week we're still feeling the LOVE for these girls. It was great getting to shoot with Meghan, Allie and Marc and have a fun California day in the sun. I did get fried but it was still a blast and all worth it!

My Tips: Happy Father's Day!

June 15, 2013

In the past I have shared with you some fun father's day gift ideas as seen here and here. Today my Tip is  "Live ONE day at a TIME and make it a Masterpiece"! This year has been a miracle year. My Father whom I call Dj Dodi got a liver transplant. His Donor was my cousin Andy, both incredible fathers! It is truly a miracle and I am grateful for what Andy did for my Dodi. Both are doing really well and the road to recovery for my father gets better each day. Our lives move fast. We must appreciate each step and be grateful for the little things too. Thank you Dodi for being there for me every step of the way in my journey.
Happy Father's Day!

Also Happy Father's Day to everyone including my amazing father-in-law, brother-in-law, cousins, friends who are recent fathers and to the future fathers too!!

Midnight Inspirations: ÉVOCATEUR Cuffs!

June 14, 2013

One of my favorite mottos is, "Keep Calm and Carry On." I've been saying it for years, and when the phrase got popular, family, friends and colleagues started buying me little knick knacks that said Keep Calm And... I have bowls, aprons, signs, note name it, I probably have it! So when I found this ÉVOCATEUR cuff above, I had to have it. Plus it doesn't hurt that my last show was British Invasion-inspiredÉVOCATEUR is a collection of one-of-a-kind jewelry and accessories that is made in the USA. According to their website, "Each piece conjures a story that's yours to tell."
That is certainly true in my case...
Available at ÉVOCATEUR

June 10, 2013

"I've missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I've lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I've been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I've failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed." - Michael Jordan

Midnight Inspirations: Meet our June Muse of the Month!

June 5, 2013
Introducing our June ‘13 Muse of the Month, Olivia!

I'm excited to announce our June Muse of the Month, youtuber Olivia DiTomaso of Livforstyle! I had the pleasure of meeting Olivia when she came to the Boy Meets Girl® style lounge! If you've never seen her youtube videos you should definitely check them out!  Here is a video where Olivia interviewed me BTS! Thanks Olivia!

1. Name: Olivia DiTomaso, but known on youtube as Livforstyle

2. Favorite charity to support and why?
My favorite charity to support is the Sandy Hook School Support Fund (SHSSF), which was created by the United Way of Western Connecticut and the Newtown Savings Bank.  The Sandy Hook shooting was a tragic event.  It happened so close to my hometown and impacted many individuals. After the tragic event in Newtown causing innocent children and teachers to die, my school came up with many ways to donate to this charity to support the families and the town of Newtown who were impacted by the school shooting.  Our school sold wristbands and ribbons and all the money was donated to this charity.  Each student took turns selling these items every day before and after school.  We also went around the cafeteria during lunch looking for donations. Since this tragic event happened in my state, it was important to raise awareness and help those in Newtown.

3. Favorite Boy Meets Girl® item and why?
After visiting the Boy Meets Girl office back in April, I immediately fell in love with the personalized hoodies.  They were so soft and comfy.  They would be perfect for a chilly summer night with any outfit.  I love how the Boy Meets Girl® logo is the star of the hoodie.  Another great feature of the hoodie is you can personalized it.  You can put whenever your heart desires, making your hoodie truly yours. It such an awesome feature.  Many clothing companies do not offer a personalization feature, so those hoodies are certainly unique.
