Midnight Inspirations: The Best Halloween Movies!

October 31, 2013
Happy Halloween everyone! I love knowing what everyone's favorite movies are especially Halloween movies. So I asked my DJ team what their favorites were and why. Check out below!

DJ Jackson/Katie's Pick: Hocus Pocus
via Google Images
"One of my absolute favorites! I always forget Sara Jessica Parker is in this movie!! It's light hearted and fun! Also "I put a spell on you" always gets stuck in my head!"- Katie

DJ U/Chelsea's Pick: The Saw Movies
via Google Images
"I LOVE scary movies, especially in the month of October, which is funny because I get scared very easily. One of my favorites is the SAW series. I have seen all 6 movies at least twice. I love these movies because they are not only scary but they are psychological thrillers so they really make you think. And although they are extremely gory and completely insane (I usually cover my eyes at least 4-5 times), there is a certain logic behind what Jigsaw (the main villain) does and it is actually very clever." -Chelsea

DJ MM/Tara's Pick: Casper
via Google Images

"I was 11 when this first came out and I've loved it ever since. I could watch it over and over and never get tired of it. Plus Devon Sawa was my first love. "- Tara

DJ Platform/Sam's Pick: Double Double Toil and Trouble
via Google Images
"Who doesn't love a classic 90's Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen movie?" - Sam

Midnight Inspirations: Vintage finds...Bib & Tuck!

October 29, 2013
Recently I shared with you a post here where Bib and Tuck featured me on their rock star site and on their blog. I promised I would be back with a tutorial on how the site works. So here I am.
If you love vintage as much as me you have to check out Bib and Tuck

Here is the quick and dirty on how the site works:
1)create a profile and upload photos of clothes you might want to sell (the same clothes you might bring to INABuffalo Exchange or CrossRoads Trading Co. all which I love dearly too)
2) If someone buys your item you get bucks and then you can tuck! This means you can then use your virtual bucks to buy(aka Tuck) other items on the site from other bibbers like myself (you can see my vintage stash on sale here)! It quite genius as if you do this you never actually use real money :)
3)You also get ratings similar to Ebay.
Check out my rating below thanks Emilia for your kind words :)

Midnight Inspirations: Satya Alluring Bracelet

October 24, 2013

I have been a big fan of the Sayta brand for a long time. They are know for their modern jewelry that they design with a fearless woman in mind(that's me)! I love that they also give back to BullyBust which as you know is a cause that is near and dear to me and Boy Meets Girl®. Sayta also has a foundation that gives back to the world in so many ways which you can check out here!
This bracelet seen on my wrist above has a beautiful intricate feather design and blue agate stones. It is part of the Peacock Collection and stands for beauty, completeness and confidence and the stone stands for creativity and good fortune!
This is a perfect piece to get for yourself  to inspire you to find beauty in all that you do!

what I wore: Fall Style

October 22, 2013
Check out some of the outfits I have been rocking this Fall! My style is eclectic, edgy and demure all rolled into one neat little package. I get asked a lot who inspires me in terms of fashion so I thought this was a good time to share that with you ....I’m going to give you my holy trinity of influences.  First, Coco Chanel, who famously said “Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening.”  I agree. I think that’s why I am so happy working as hard as I do.  Second, Kate Moss. Of course she’s a beautiful and confident woman, but what I love about her is the way she effortlessly transitions from eclectic vintage to high fashion.  She never looks like she’s trying to put an outfit together – everything looks like it just naturally belongs on her body. Third, Patti Smith.  She’s stayed true to her edgy stylishness since the 70s. She’s unflappable.

Midnight Inspirations: London/Milan/Paris SS'14 Fashion Week Wrap Up!

October 3, 2013
While working for Elsa Klensch back in the day I covered designers in their fashion houses such as the house of Verdura in NYC as well as designers on the runway. I remember attending a Marc Jacobs show in his store on Mercer Street in 1998 and feeling that feeling of "I am doing what I love". So today I bring you my Fashion Week wrap up from London, Milan and Paris and some of my favorite standouts! #igelstyle

Definition of a standout: a person or thing of exceptional ability or high quality.

 LONDON
Christopher Kane

Standouts:
The "crew" sweatshirt continues to be a wardrobe staple this season and will be moving forward into Spring 2014 as seen here at Chirstopher Kane. I am big fan pairing your crew with a fancier skirt as it it takes your outfit from day into evening. Effortless Chic.

MILAN
Missoni

Standouts:
The Classic Missoni Chevron was reinterpreted as waves or birds seen throughout the collection. When I doodle I draw my waves and birds this way similar to when I was a little girl. I also tend to take a lot of photographs of birds, waves and water which you can see all over my instagram. I guarantee you will be joining me this SS'14 rocking some these elements whether in your accessories, shoes or a full dress!
PARIS
Julien David

Standouts:
Oversized hoodies, life-preserver intarsia sweaters, varsity jackets made longer into dresses...check.check.check!  Julien David similar to what I loved about Missoni was inspired by the water "The Tribe of the Seven Seas". I think I will be sailing all summer long...whose joining me?! :)

PARIS
Chanel
Standouts:
Oh Chanel...you had me at Chanel. This SS'14 show had a bit of everything I adore! Blazers worn over dresses and skirts, hints of pink, more black and white, emphasis on collars, a hint of crop tops, distressed denim and a spring standout this coming 2014 COLOR!  Classic with an Edge.

Midnight inspirations: Meet our October Muse of the Month!

October 1, 2013
Introducing our October ‘13 Muse of the Month, Tierra!

Tierra has walked in three Boy Meets Girl® NYFW shows! I first discovered Tierra through an exploremodeling.com contest we did in 2012. You can see her video she posted to the casting here.
When I asked Tierra about how we met she said "One of my close friends who knew that one of my dreams was to walk in NYC for fashion week encouraged me to register and make an account. From there nearly my entire university helped by promoting my profile and voting daily. After the contest I was told I wasn't selected and as a result was incredibly discouraged. A few days after Cristina Dehart owner of Explore Modeling called and said that since one of the models couldn't come I would have the opportunity to walk. You can imagine my delight. I came up and met you and the team and the rest was history."  I never knew this story and could never imagine not working with Tierra these past three seasons!  Tierra recently moved to NYC to pursue a full time career in modeling and has goals to obtain a major beauty campaign and model internationally too! I have no doubt Tierra's dreams will come true. Learn more about this Muse below :)
1. Name: Tierra

2. Favorite charity/cause to support and why?

My favorite cause to support is education. As a graduate of Georgia State University and former employee of the Alonzo A Crim Center for Urban Educational Excellence, I hold firm to the fact that excellent education changes and improves lives. Jumpstart for Young children is my favorite program to support and I feel everyone should take the time to work with youth to improve the future.

3. Favorite Boy Meets Girl® item and why!

My favorite Boy Meets Girl® items are my City Leggings and vented voyage hoodie. These items make the perfect fall outfit for running on go sees around the city. They offer comfort and chic style which makes them two of my favorite BMG pieces.
