I hope everyone had a beautiful and Merry Christmas! I recently celebrated my good friend Sophie Elgort's recent engagement. So excited to continue to celebrate Sophie into 2014! Sophie and I met a few years ago and have worked together on several projects including this shoot as seen below in my BTS web series.

Booming pop sensation Sabi, a featured artist on the Britney Spears Femme Fatale Tour and Cobra Starship's hit song "You Make Me Feel," joins Stacy for a fun-filled photo shoot at Caravan Stylist Studio with Sophie Elgort, the highly sought after shutterbug and daughter of world-renown photographer Arthur Elgort. Both Stacy and stylist Ali Lang dress Sabi for Boy Meets Girl's Spring 2012 campaign in the latest styles.

Behind the Seams: Q&A with DJ Hesta Prynn

December 20, 2013
Okay, so some of you might know that I’m a super kick-ass DJ.  Just check out my  BTS web series to see my mad skillz...  JEALOUS?!?!?  Hard to believe it’s been two years since I surprised my team with a day at Scratch DJ Academy, where each of them took a spin on the turntables and was anointed with their very own DJ names.

But seriously folks, I love DJs and how skilled they are at setting the mood.  They really are such talented artists and its hard in this day and age to think about attending any event without a tailor-made sound track courtesy of a DJ.  Recently, I had the great privilege to meet the uber-talented DJ Hesta Prynn. Hesta is also a songwriter and a writer-writer for Paper Magazine. Hesta worked my Fashion Week after party last season. You know you have a killer DJ when the crowd won’t leave even after last call! That was my after party. Thank you DJ Hesta! I hope to get a special DJ lesson from you soon. Lord knows I need it.

Learn more about DJ Hesta Prynn in my Q&A below and make sure to check out this beautiful artist on the rise!

My tips: How to keep your skin soft this winter!

December 18, 2013
I can't believe it's already the middle of the December! I'm not sure where you are but here in NYC it is COLD, COLD, COLD! And when the temperature drops our skin can go haywire!

Here are some of my tips for keeping your skin smooth and beautiful in the winter months!

1. Water & Lot's of ZICO Coconut water!
It's so important to drink water all year long, but in the winter months it's vital to keep your skin soft! Keep a water bottle in your bag, get a fancy water cup for your desk, add a little lemon to your water, whatever helps you drink more water, just do it!  Also ZICO's amazing natural coconut water has as much potassium as a banana and five essential electrolytes which keeps you hydrated, replenished and feeling renewed!
2. Scrub a dub dub!
Scrubs are important in the Winter months to remove all the dry skin and smooth everything out! It's important to uses body and facial scrubs if you want fresh smooth skin! Check out this DIY "Tropical Oat Scrub" recipe from good friend Alexis Wolfer, founder of BeautyBean.com and author of "The Recipe for Radiance".
All you need to do is Pulse 1 cup raw oats in a blender until coarsely chopped then Mix with 1/4 cup liquified coconut oil (warm it if it's solidified). Scrub over damp, softened skin (after a shower is best) using gentle circular motions. You can use this on sensitive and even acne-prone skin (even on your face!) since the oats are gentle and the coconut oil is antibacterial and antimicrobial so it won't cause breakouts. If your body needs an extra vigorous scrub down, add 1/4 cup raw sugar as well for a more granular scrub. Rinse the scrub off with warm water leaving the residual oil on to moisturize.

3. Lotion away!
Lotion is another essential needed in these winter months! Especially for your hands, body and feet!
I love putting this lotion on my feet right before bedtime :)

Midnight Inspirations: My routine & must reads online!

December 4, 2013
I was recently interviewed by ModaDossier.com One of their questions to me was, Walk us through a typical day in your lifeI had never really stopped to think about my patterns.  I found it quite shocking that I do really have a routine, and just going through this exercise actually taught me something about myself but more on that in a bit.  First, below, a typical Stacy Igel day…
Wake-up 6am. First thing I do? Reach for my phone (I know, I know).  Time to get social: Insta, tweet, like… dork out on customized news courtesy of  theSkimm… Brush my teeth, get dressed and kiss my husband (sometimes not in that order!)… Have a shake (Barlean’s greens, some fruit, chia seeds, almond butter, almond milk and whey protein). If I leave early enough, hop on the train and read an actual physical paper, Women’s Wear Daily (which I have been reading since my first subscription was sent to me at the age of 12).  Can’t do that during rush hour though, the natives get too restless.  If I'm late, I'll hop in a cab, get stuck in traffic, and yell at myself for not taking the subway.  But at least I can start going through my emails and reading WhoWhatWear, which is perfect for what's trending right now (thanks Mindy Kaling for Rockin’ BMG).  Once I get to work, the meetings begin: Design, Sales, Social , E-com, PR, Bizdev.  Without fail, someone in one of these meetings (often me) will mention an article in TechCrunch or Mashable that is apropos of something we're talking about.  And then someone will lead the meeting off on a tangent (again, often me) about something funny they read in Buzzfeed. After meetings, we “break” for lunch.  Well, not really a break, because I'm not kidding when I tell you that I often have 500 new emails to go through while I eat lunch. Around 6pm, the office begins to get quiet.  I love this time of day.  I can be super efficient.  I turn the speakers up to eleven and just get crackin’.  I’ve tried to cut down on the number of after work dinner and events I go to.  Otherwise, you know, I'd have no personal life.  When I do have events, my husband (who’s also in the business) often joins me.  When I get home, I unwind with some truly horrible reality TV while my husband tries to sleep! My husband says I burn the candle at both ends, but isn't that what life is all about???

So here’s what I learned after this exercise:
1.      I’m addicted to content.  I'm equally voracious as a consumer and a creator.
2.      I think I need a nap.
3.      I need to figure out ways to increase efficiency. I used to have an elaborate email system that helped me separate the important emails from the REALLY important emails.  Maybe I'll go back to that… Also, maybe I’ll get a treadmill desk!

What's your routine? What do you read in the morning?
