Midnight Inspirations: Fall '14 Brocade

March 28, 2014
Recently I covered the Butterfly look and today I am talking Brocade. Recently seen down the runways at Mary Katrantzou, Badgley Mischka, Temperley London and many more. This Brocade look comes in all shapes and styles. I particularly love the "power suit" look as well as the pocket ball gown dress done below by Badgley Mischka. My favorite part about all these Fall '14 trends is how you can incorporate them into your wardrobe now!

My Tips: have fun with your hair!

March 27, 2014
In this photo I was playing with my hair and its length before I went in for the kill. I actually asked my insta friends what they thought of this length and everyone gave me the thumbs up emoji. Having a good feeling about this new style and seeing a few of my friends Sophie Elgort, Samantha Lim and Allie Marie Evans all have fun with their hair I was itching for a hair change too.

My Tips:
Tip 1: spend time playing with your hair before you actually cut it off.
Tip 2: check out your friends and how their cuts look on them.
Tip 3: search your favorite sites for ideas to find that look you really want to achieve.
Tip 4: remember to have fun with your hair because your hair always will grow back.
Tip 5: Change is GOOD.

Behind the Seams: Q&A with David Stassen

March 18, 2014
Today, I am taking you Behind the Seams™ with David Stassen. David is one of my BFF's from high school.  He is also a writer and producer for the the Mindy Project (along with his writing partner and co-star, Ike Barinholtz, who is also a high school bff of mine).  If you don’t watch The Mindy Project… you should.  It is one of the smartest, funniest shows on TV.  It is currently in its second season and has been picked up for its third season on Fox!  As one of the on-set writers, David works crazy hours.  Of course, according to David, “When you’re doing what you love, it’s worth it.” David is also a recent father to beautiful Lily.  I asked him if he’s written his daughter into an episode yet and he said, "he's developing a one hour drama to be a starring vehicle for Lily. She will play a publicist in Manhattan looking for love and clean diapers."

I figured many of you would like to work in television, perhaps as writers of a sit-com, so I asked David what he’s looking for in an assistant and how to get noticed.  He said, “If you get hired as an assistant or an intern, take the job seriously and be the best assistant you can be.  It may not seem like it at first, but your dedication will not go unnoticed.” I completely agree – that’s industry-agnostic advice I’d say.

Check out more about David below and follow him on Twitter for a daily chuckle or two!

Make sure to watch The Mindy Project, Tuesdays at 9:30pm EST on Fox!

March 14, 2014
Now that the Fall 2014 fashion shows in New York, London, Paris and Milan have concluded, it’s time to take a look back at the highlights and to consider some of the trends we saw on the runway.  First, anyone who reads my blog knows that I love anything and everything Butterfly (my grandmothers on both sides were reincarnated as monarch butterflies… seriously). Check out these banging butterfly accessories below at Creatures of the Wind and below for how you can get into the butterfly spirit now.

Midnight Inspirations: Magazine cut-outs...

March 6, 2014
We all do it. Maybe now it is more like a pin or a clip or screen shot! But cutting out print magazines and making mood boards is still in my blood. I am not sure when I found this picture, and do not even recall which magazine it came from, but I have had it up on my bulletin board for ages and whenever I need a little inspiration for what hair and make-up look I want to achieve for a special night out on the town... I turn to it along with my many other magazine cut-outs!

Introducing our March ‘14 Muse of the Month, Abbey!

I am excited to introduce you to this month's musical Muse! Abbey is part of a band called the 'Perfect Couple' with her other half Greg based out of Nashville! They've have been writing and making music together for 12 years, and married 10 of those years! I love Abbey's bright style, positive attitude and catchy tunes. Learn more about Abbey below and make sure to check her new album that just released on iTunes!

1. Name:
Abbey Moore. Check out @theperfectcouple on twitter and instagram, and on  facebook  and their website.

2.  Favorite charity to support and why?
I have 2 favorite charities. My 1st one hits closer to home. Its called “Theresa’s Twists”. It’s founded by my sister and my parents. My sister Theresa has Asperger’s and her whole life our family has tried to figure out how to help her live and thrive to her fullest potential. She is truly magnificent! So- My parents combined their love of gourmet pretzels, and love of my sister and are soon to launch a food truck! It’s goal is to employ Young adults with Asperger’s and teach them life skills and give them training that will make them more employable for the workforce! They also hope to  educate people about Aspergers and breakdown misunderstanding and stereotypes. You can learn more about this awesome cause at http://www.theresastwists.com/

My 2nd favorite charity is called LightWriters. They assist photographers and film makers in the use of their lenses and talents for good. They do this by
  • Photo mentoring under served kids
  • Pairing professional photographers and film makers with non profits who could benefit from their talents.

3.  Favorite Boy Meets Girl® item and why?
My favorite Boy Meets Girl item is hands down the Boy Meets Girl tights. I mean i love absolutely everything, but these tights are by far one of my main fashion staple items! I wear them with so many different outfits, and everyone asks about them! I even wear them in the summer under a pair of cute jean shorts, these tights rock!

Who is your muse or the person who inspires you most? Could be anyone! If you would like to be considered for Boy Meets Girl®'s Muse of the Month see the rules here!
