I recently caught up with Chelsea Briggs and I am so excited to to take you all Behind the Seams™ today to learn more about this amazing woman. Chelsea reached out to me in 2010 right before my NYFW show featuring the Neon Trees and interviewed me for Hollywire in my cardboard office. I remember our meeting as if it was yesterday...
Chelsea has so much life and pizazz (yes I used PIZAZZ) and I knew she would go on to do big big things. Chelsea started as in intern in 2009 at Hollywire.com + HollywireTV (YouTube) and after 5 1/2 years she worked her way up to running the whole thing and earning part ownership in the company! Now with almost 1-million subscribers on YouTube, about 14 million monthly views, and a total of over 320 million views in total Chelsea is not stopping and only getting bigger and better. As she noted to me, "A lot of times the most successful people make their own opportunities and don’t wait for them to come along. It’s all about hard work & persistence. Also, Being told ‘no’ is not the end of your career, it’s the beginning of a new strategy." I completely agree and find myself saying this exact same thing to others when talking about building your career. Chelsea has covered Sundance, SXSW Music Festival, NYFW and has interviewed just about EVERYONE in the industry from One Direction, Justin Timberlake, Ariana Grande, Iggy Azalea, Ed Sheeran, Demi Lovato to Joseph Gordin-Levitt, Anne Hathaway, Rachel McAdams, Paul Rudd and Me :) At Hollywire, Chelsea does not only host, write and produce the daily videos, but she also manages a small team and makes most of all the business decisions. When I asked Chelsea what her biggest work challenge was she noted, "I wear a lot of hats at my company, so I guess just balancing the workload on a daily basis without getting overwhelmed and burnt out. Also, not being so mean to myself because I can be my WORST critic." I completely relate to Chelsea and this balance is hard but as you can see Chelsea, has a positive work ethic and attitude!
Me: What is your proudest career moment? AMA’s?
Chelsea: It’s funny -- there have been a lot of little victories along the way that have made me super proud, but I think the most recent one was hosting the 2014 American Music Awards (AMA's) red carpet pre-show. For as long as I can remember it’s been a goal of mine, so being able to cross that off my list is pretty darn awesome! Plus, it was a challenge and a blast all at the same time!

I've always been a big supporter of Breast Cancer Research & Awareness (Susan G. Komen.) I'm also 100% on board when it comes to any anti-bullying charity. There are two girls who started this really awesome nonprofit called The Kind Campaign and I think they’re doing really great things!

I got an email from shutterfly and forgot I used to upload my photos to their shared stream before we had fancy photostream apps and iphones. Yes that is me surfing out in the first picture. I remember this day and it might look like I am a great surfer but really I was crashing into these big waves and learning how to survive during these conditions (no joke). I am not sure when I will take my next surf vacation but finding these pictures DJ Blue Steel and I took while away several years ago is quite dreamy.

So quickly the leaves have fallen from the trees, thanksgiving has come and gone and we find ourselves staring at the blinking lights down our streets in the trees which gives us a holiday ring ring ring. Wishing everyone a Happy First night of Hanukkah/Chanukah and why not enjoy the festivities in some fun yet ugly sweaters!

You know the feeling when you love something so much and you misplace it. It definitely blows. Over the years this white winter hat has traveled many days and nights with me. It was one of those hats that I felt shaped my face and was that go to hat for me on a bad hair day. It was my saucy hat.
So in search of my next saucy hat check out some of my midnight inspirations below. I will keep you posted if I find that ONE. Until then Happy Winter.

Introducing our December ‘14 Muse of the Month and last Muse of 2014, Sophie!
I cannot believe this is my last Muse feature of the year. I am so excited to end it with my dear friend and photographer, Sophie Elgort. My first feature with Sophie was in 2011, almost four years ago, which you can check out here. Sophie is an amazing friend and human being. She has a passion, drive and an incredible work ethic. I have been fortunate to join forces with Sophie during several NYFW shows and with artists such as Sabi which you can see here in my BTS web series. In 2012, Sophie captured me for her Financial Times piece called Suits in the City. Sophie recently got married to Eric Von Stroh and I had the pleasure of toasting her at her engagement party and then, this past summer, attending her incredible wedding in the Hamptons. Find out more about Sophie below and see why we thought she would be our perfect end of the year MUSE!
1. Name and Social media channels: Sophie Elgort
2. Favorite charity to support and why?
I have two organizations that I am extremely involved in and have been for many years: Young Audiences and Ballet Hispanico. I co-chair the Young Audiences Arts for Learning event each year for the past five years and have been on the steering committee of Ballet Hispanico's junior board since it was created. I choose to support these organizations because they both support arts in education, which I truly believe positively affects all aspects of students’ learning and influences the development of creativity, cultural awareness, and critical thinking skills.
3. Favorite Boy Meets Girl® item and why?
The Boy Meets Girl hoodies!
At my wedding this past August, we had them personalized for all the bridesmaids.
I also love the slippers - I carry them in my bag each time I travel and before the flight takes off, I change out of my shoes and into my slippers. They fit in my bag as easily as a pair of socks, but are so cozy!
