Tip of the Day: how to build a successful team

Over the holidays I read Steve Job's biography and could not put it down. His words inspired me and jogged many memories of when I was first starting my brand and the struggles and accomplishments that came about.

There were many notes I took away from reading his book, but one I want to share with you all today is the importance of building a team and finding a groove so to speak. I've had many different types of Boy Meets Girl(R) team members, some staying on board longer than others (Steve, like myself, believed that building a long lasting team is the key to success).

Below are some tips on what to look for when building a creative, driven and motivated team:

1. Focus- Each of my team has a specific role in the company and setting weekly meetings to stay on track is very important. I try to follow this plan so I can also keep on par with my own tasks and can manage my team with the right focus. When we loose focus we stray from the the goal. Focus is key.

2. Trust- People you can count on day in and day out.

3. Creativity- I hire and look for key team players who inspire and challenge me everyday and also who think outside of the box.

4. Energy- A positive energy creates a positive environment.
