Midnight inspiratrion: my dream closet

June 26, 2012
Dj Blue Steel & I recently bought our first apartment together in NYC!!! Of course I cannot stop thinking about how I want my dream closet to look! Every since I was a little girl my closet has been a special destination for me and my friends (I used to hold parties, design and throw sample sales in my closet in elementary school..no joke!)...and now I am extremely excited to get to design this new closet from scratch. I have to provide my vision to our designer/contractor. I feel like a girl in a candy/closet store. I have been putting all my inspirations in my collections here on Lockerz check them out to see what is brewing in my head during the wee hours.
Looking forward to sharing with you the final closet in the fall.

What would your dream closet look like?

My tips: Beauty Secrets

June 22, 2012
I have to admit that I'm kind of a beauty junkie. I love trying new products and samples and seeing what works and what doesn't, but I always have those go to products that I just can't live without! Check them out below.

My Bronzer- Guerlain Terracotta Bronzing Powder #01.
I love the texture of this bronzer. It is light weight and makes me feel like I have a special glow.  Can be purchased here on Sephora.com
(thanks to Dj Animal for introducing me to this awesome bronzer)

 My Oil- Kai Perfume Oil
I am big Perfume Oil girl. I still where White Musk by the Body Shop from my high school days.
My new fav is Kai.
Can be purchased here on KaiFragrance.com

My Lip Balm-Smith's Minted Rose
I think I have been using this balm since 6th grade. Never goes out of Lip style ;) I use put this on once in the morning and once in the evening before I go to bed.
can be purchased here on Sephora.com

My Face Mist- Kiehl's Acai Damage-Protecting Toning Mist
I love using a mist after applying my makeup. It refreshes me and protects you against environmental stressors. I am also a big fan of Tata Harper's mist too which I keep in my purse on the go.
Can be purchased here on Kiehls.com

What are the beauty products that you can't live without?

Midnight Inspirations: All things Minnie!

June 19, 2012
I went to Disney World a few weeks ago and re-fell in love with the classic Disney icon Minnie Mouse! I've loved her since I was a little kid, but it wasn't until this trip that I really started noticing how much style and sass she has. I've been incorporating her classic polka dot print in my outfits lately...

Minnie Mouse on the left, me on the right (notice my ears captured in this shot from my boy meets girl(R) background so crazy right! TWINZIES!! )

And of course I have to incorporate my Minnie obsession to my #sportscollars! How great is the gingham pin I got in Disney World? I love how its understated but still fun. Just another way to show my Minnie love!

I also had to share with you guys this adorable pic of my "Minnie"-me niece Naomi rocking her own Disney sports collar! So cute!

Also check out more images in my collections on Lockerz.com

What character inspires you right now?

ENTREPRENEURSHIP: Creating a LOGO and NAME for your business with meaning...

June 15, 2012
one of my first trade shows..  the logo on solid tees so it could stand out for all ages :))

The name "Boy Meets Girl®" has a lot of sentimental value, so when people ask me how I came up with the name, and of course where the logo came from, it's a story that I love to tell.

It was the first time I met my (now) husband's parents for dinner at their apartment. We had only been dating for a few months but while they were giving me the tour, I noticed a picture frame containing silhouettes of their three children from when they were younger.  My parents had a similar picture of my sister and I from when we were about the same age.  I thought about us and how we both still had these young, playful, carefree versions of ourselves and I knew right then and there my brand would be called Boy Meets Girl® and that I’d use our silhouettes for the logo.  The logo driven product came first and we have been growing the collection organically from there.
To me learning about the origin of where a creation starts is so exciting. If you did not already know how I developed the name and logo of my brand,  I hope you learned something new today.

Midnight Inspirations: Finding the perfect Father's Day Gift!

June 12, 2012
Finding the perfect gift for Father's Day is always a challenge but it can also be fun! Here are some of the things on my list this year for my Father, Father-in-law, and of course some of my friends who are celebrating their first Father's day as new dads!

1. Nixon Time Teller Watch- this Silver watch is an even sleek-er take on the classic men's watch. Costs $100 retail but sign up on Lockerz and get it for up to 50% off using your PTZ! Other great Nixon watches as well if you want something with more color!
2. Tickets to see Fun in concert! Currently obsessing over this band, so I am definitely going to try and take my dad to see them live. I know he would love them too!

3. What dad doesn't love sports!? Chicago Cubs 4-piece BBQ set.. for my dad who loves his Cubbies and of course loves grilling outside in the summer! For my father-in-law I would of course get the Yankees version...

4. The Brookstone iNeed foot massager- Dj MM has this and is OBSESSED! All dads need a good foot massage sometimes! They just might not want to get up after sitting down for this one!

did you already get your Father's Day gift? if so, share some of your ideas with me here! looking forward to seeing what you guys come up with!

Behind the Seams: Danskin Photoshoot with my NIECE!

June 8, 2012
This is a special Behind the Seams™ with me. A month ago I got to go Behind the Seams™ with the amazing Danskin team who cast my 4 year old niece Samantha Josie as their little ballerina for their lifestyle shoot (Dj Kingsley has a great eye!). Check out these amazing professional photos below and on their home page here and if you are looking for these amazing Tutu's(wish they came in my size) for your daughter, niece or for a special gift they are available here on Danskin site. See the captions below each picture to feel what I felt during this exciting moment for my niece aka dj mini model.

DJ MC styling Sam and prepping her hair and make up. My sister and I were in shock to see little Samantha Josie sit so still. She was a true professional. We were in awe. Seriously I was that stage mom back stage so happy for my little niece.
DJ MC not only styled Sam's looks but also taught her how to do ballet moves. Sam has never taken any ballet classes and DJ MC was a dancer in high school and college so was an incredible first teacher for Sam. Thank you!  (p.s because of you she is signing up for her first dance classes this summer and will be rocking these tutus!)
DJ Lauren created this beautiful back drop and styled this shot. We were all in SHOCK when Sam posed for this shot. She was literally a natural. This was Sam's first shoot and she nailed it. Thanks to DJ Lauren and DJ MC and photographer Malcolm for making Sam feel so comfortable.
This was Sam's last shot of the shoot. Gold Sparkles=Heaven for a 4 year old.

More photos to come all summer on Danskin.com!

How cute is my little niece? Obsessed!

Midnight Inspirations: Meet our June Muse of the Month

June 5, 2012

Introducing our June ‘12 Muse of the Month, Nubia!

1. Name: Nubia Mejia of the blog, Nubia's Nonsense

2.  Favorite charity/cause to support and why?
I've always been a huge fan of the Make-A-Wish foundation. I think it's such a tragedy that there's so many children with life threatening medical conditions. The fact that this charity goes to such extremes to make their wishes come true is truly magical and a beautiful thing in my eyes.

3. Favorite Boy Meets Girl® Item?
Right now I'm loving the "Bad Girls Eat Candy" Campus Tee. The one I happen to be wearing in this photo had a little D.I.Y magic done to it buy the Boy Meets Girl(R) office, which makes it even more special! It's so comfortable and you can wear it casually or dress it up a bit. I like clothing with options and I also like Candy ;-)

Who is your muse or the person who inspires you most? Could be anyone!
If you would like to be considered for Boy Meets Girl®'s Muse of the Month see rules here.

p.s. Click here to see the rest of Nubia's amazing photo shoot with our Bad Girls Eat Candy shirt! A portion of the sale of this shirt is donated to the Young Survival  Coalition for Breast Cancer and is available now on LOCKERZ !

What i wore: 1 dress to 2 different events

June 1, 2012
You all know that I'm very passionate about being eco-friendly and not letting anything go to waste, and this pertains to my wardrobe too! I'm always trying to restyle and reinvent items from my wardrobe including dresses I wear to events. Some people frown upon wearing a dress more than once in front of the cameras, and I say "Why not?!" So I decided to take my favorite new Prozena Schouler dress and show you how I styled it for two different events (this girl loves a dress with pockets!).

Event 1: wrap party for my web series Behind The Seams™ on Lockerz.com
Photo below with Sabi and Sophie Elgort
How I wore the dress:
tights: Boy Meets Girl
shoes: Christian Dior
Necklaces: Stella & Dot mixed with Vintage
Bracelet: Jimmy Crystal
Hair&Makeup c/o: Caravan Stylist Studio (side sweep and ponytail)

Event 2: 10th Anniversary Gala of the Wayuu Taya Foundation
Photo below with Patricia Velasquez
How I wore the dress:
tights: none
shoes: Christian Louboutin
Necklaces: Vintage Jaded c/o DJ Mocha M
Bracelet: Vintage
Bag: Vintage
Ring: my special bird ring
Hair&Makeup c/o: Caravan Stylist Studio (bump and half up)

How do you change up your look? Which version of what i wore do you like better?
