Midnight Inspirations: Happy Halloween! Boo!
October 30, 2012
Happy Halloween everyone! Halloween is one of my favorite holidays. I think its one of my favs because I just love dressing up :). I've been planning this years costume for months way before Dots & Minnie were in "fashion"! I blogged about going to Disney world back in May here and how I fell in love with Minnie Mouse all over again while I was there which you can see in another post here. I was supposed to be celebrating Halloween in NYC tomorrow night first at my sister's annual Halloween Party with my niece's and nephews and after at Heidi Klum's. This year I was going to my friend's Amy Sacco's party at #8 too. Unfortunately, this year Hurricane Sandy hit NYC and I am unable to get back to NYC. I am fortunate to be safe and sound. I am not sure when the airports will open again. I have been bumped a few times from my flight! It is looking like my Sunday departure(10/28) will be this Friday(11/2). Halloween will be very different in NYC. I am praying for the city to recover from this disaster quickly. It is hard to do this post when people are out of electricity and half of NYC is under water :(
I am sending prayers to everyone who has been effected by Hurricane Sandy and wishing everyone a Happy Halloween. I might find myself in a different costume then I had been planning tomorrow night as all my "assets" are in NYC.

Behind the Seams: NSCC’s annual fundraising event, Share! Create! Unite! To Combat Bullying!
October 29, 2012
Happy Monday everyone! What an amazing week it's been! Last Monday I had the pleasure of attending the NSCC's annual fundraising event, Share! Create! Unite to combat Bullying!
I introduced Cassandra Bankson ( aka Diamondandheels14) as one of their newest Bully Bust #upstanders! As you guys know Cassandra walked in my NYFW show this past September and shared with me her story on how she was bullied for her cystic acne. I've been working with Bully Bust/ NSCC for years and thought this was a natural fit to bring Cassandra on board as a new Ambassador with me! The director of the Bully Movie, Lee Hirsch spoke as well. It was an amazing powerful evening! Thank you to everyone who came out to support! I am so excited to be working with Cassandra to continue to fight bullying in schools and stand up as an #UPSTANDER. Thank you so much Joey Hodges for jumping in to make this night an incredible evening and to all the sponsors and staff of the evening and of course my incredible team. xo, Stacy![]() |

3. Favorite Boy Meets Girl® Item:
I love the Forever Young Crop top for lots of reasons! One of my favorite things about this top is the fit; it's casual and loose, but still classy. I also love the feel of the light cotton/ The American flag in the Boy Meets Girl® logo is not only symbolic but because it's representative of me so I'm always proud to wear it.
Who is your muse or the person who inspires you most? Could be anyone!
If you would like to be considered for Boy Meets Girl®'s Muse of the Month see the rules here!

Entrepreneurship: Recap of FDNY Fashion Digital Conference
October 17, 2012
Of course I was excited to attend as a guest but when Sandy asked me to speak on one of the panels I was thrilled. The panel was titled “The Disruptors” and moderated by Vanessa Friedman, Fashion Editor of the Financial Times. The other panelists included Aslaug Magnusdottir, the CEO of Moda Operandi; David Gilboa, founder of Warby Parker; Divya Gugnani of Send the Trend and Nita Rollins, a futurist. A very diverse panel! I didn’t know what to expect but in the end I had a great time and was honored to be part of this distinguished group. Check out this clip from the panel where I talk about our partnership with Lockerz and our “Buy Now Wear Now” Fashion Show for this past New York Fashion Week.
It was so interesting watching and listening to the other panels and discussions going on at the conference. I started my day listening to the morning Keynote by my friend Greg Selkoe, CEO and founder of Karmaloop and ended with Mindy Grossman, CEO of HSN, the afternoon Keynote speaker. I loved hearing Greg talking about Karmaloop in it’s beginning stages and hearing some of the initiatives that he thought would work but didn’t and those he thought might not work, but turned out to be successful with his followers! When I heard Mindy talk about how she started having town hall meetings to give her employees the personal attention which she says is the key to any successful brand, this really hit home for me because I like to give my team that personal attention too. She said it helped people see her as an accessible boss, and someone who would listen and ultimately benefited the whole company. she speaks from lots of experience, and as a fan of HSN and her work, I found it fascinating!
Who else was there? What was your favorite part of the conference?

Midnight Inspirations: Breast Cancer Awareness Month!
October 15, 2012
Happy Monday! October is as many of you know Breast Cancer Awareness Month. This month holds a very special place in my heart. I met Kristen Martinez many years ago at the first volunteer meeting for the Young Survival Coalition for Breast Cancer that I ever went too. When we met she had already been diagnosed with stage 4 Breast Cancer. Kristen changed my life forever. She was a soldier, a fighter but most importantly an incredible friend and wanted to help educate the world on how to fight the battle. Together we worked with Urban Outfitters and Boy Meets Girl(R) with the Young Survival Coalition to raise awareness in every UO store across the country in 2008. We raised over 20,000 dollars through the sale of Boy Meets Girl(R) products which was all donated to the YSC!! I continue to raise awareness every single day though my brand (2010 collaborating with UO again after Kristen passed away and today working with Campus Candy and Lockerz selling these Campus Candy tees where a % of sales goes back to the YSC) as well as being an advocate for the cause. Take time today to learn more and help the fight. See my past blog posts here and then go here to learn more on my efforts to help fight this awful disease. I miss you Kristen!
I encourage all of you to celebrate Breast Cancer Awareness month in your own way. One of the many ways I chose to show my support this month was with my pink ombre nails!
DJ MM shows her support by walking in the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer (which I walked in in 2003 with my girlfriends). Here she is is with her friends last year. Like their hoodies?! ;)
How do you show your support for Breast Cancer Awareness Month?

StacyMy tips: Creating a run of show
October 5, 2012
For those of you who don't know what a run of show is...
- Page 1 - this is always my inspiration for the theme of the show
- Page 2 - this is optional, but this year I sketched each model wearing the look on the runway! In order to achieve this I had to know what every model would be wearing so I could sketch them exactly and get their hair color and look down right. This can get tricky because a lot of the time we do fittings the day before the show so I had to trust that the outfits I styled the girls in would be exactly what they wore based on their measurements if I did not see them until the day before the show which happened with many of the models! Guess what it all worked out :)
- Page 3/4- lists each look and article of clothing and is listed in order as you see it come down the runway.
- Page 5- Thank you to all the Sponsors involved
- Page 6/7- Thank you to everyone involved in making the show a huge success
Overall tips:
1. make your run of the show UNIQUE toward your brand and image
2. Thank EVERYONE! In this instance I believe more is ok as putting together a show involves manpower and everyone works very hard to help you make it the best it can be. So thank you's to me are like precious stones :)
3. check your spelling!! And make sure you have other eyes checking your spelling too :)

Behind the Seams: Webseries and Item/Items of the Day!
October 4, 2012
I wanted to wish everyone a Happy Thursday! Over the course of the year you have seen my web series launch exclusively on Lockerz.com where I took you all into the world Behind The Seams™ with me (you can still watch them here). It was an amazing and a crazy experience to have cameras on me every second while working 24/7. You got to see the real me. There was no acting everything was REAL. I did my makeup and hair for almost all of the episodes unless it was an event or someone was doing my hair and make up for a tip video like the episode with my good friend Tara Smith.
I was recently asked to be in a BIG network REALITY show but I didn't feel it would be TRUE to ME or YOU to do this particular show as if you all watched my web series you know who I am and I didn't want a show to portray or edit me to be someone I am not. So I recently decided to start my own unedited 45 second videos for you called Stacy's Item/Items of the Day that I will bring you everyday until.... hmm that until can mean many things but I will let you think about that and in the mean time let me know how you like these new dailies with me. They are UNEDITED and REAL. I am telling you about my favorite item or items of the day.
If you want to be featured in the Stacy's Item/Items of the Day, you know where to reach me :)

Entrepreneurship: Fashion Digital New York (FDNY) Conference
October 2, 2012
Can’t believe October is here! The past couple months have been so amazing and crazy preparing for NYFW but now that the show has come and gone, I’m in FDNY mode; the Fashion Digital New York (FDNY) Conference happening on October 10th here in NYC at McGraw Hill Conference Center in Midtown Manhattan. I love working with Sandy Hussain so when asked to be on the advisory board with other incredible leaders in the Fashion Industry which you can see here I of course had to say yes.
I am thrilled and honored to be speaking on the The Disruptors: Fashion Digital Power Panel with David Gilboa, Founder, Warby Parker, Divya Gugnani, Chief Executive Officer, Send The Trend, and Áslaug Magnúsdóttir, Co-Founder & CEO, Moda Operandi. The panel will be Moderated by Dr. Nita Rollins, PhD, Futurist, Resource Interactive.
my panel time starts @2:45 PM
Panel discussion: The fashion ecommerce market was saturated with dozens of flash-sale sites over the past few years. So much so, that one has to ask – what’s next in e-commerce? This panel explores the new models of doing business online. From Moda Operadi offering pre-order sales, Lockerz offering a new platform for social-commerce, Warby Parker disrupting the eye-wear supply chain, and Send the Trend embracing the subscription model, this panel explores revenues and strategies above and beyond the flash sale. Join us for a powerful panel of industry leaders and experts who are shaking up how online retail gets done. This power player discussion blends the key topics of the conference into a hard-hitting debate of what works and what doesn’t in today’s online apparel commerce.
The last time I spoke at a conference was at #Fashion140 last May and that time I was speaking about Humanizing a Brand in the social space. If you haven't seen a clip from it, watch it HERE! So much has happened since then so I am very excited to speak about Boy Meets Girl(R) and Lockerz and the space as a whole:)
I wanted to give my readers a special discount code so you can be part of the action and join me on October 10th for this amazing conference with incredible industry leaders shaking things up! For a full review of the days agenda click here
You can get tickets here! At check out use 25boymeetsgirl to receive 25% off your ticket!
Additionally, I will be writing a post after the Conference and sharing with you all so you see how it went and of course I'll include highlights there as well.
Hope to see you there:)
