Last Minute Holiday Gift Guide!

December 14, 2015

The holidays come and go soooo fast. Chanukah ended last night and I wanted to get this post live before it ended but time is precious and my life is a balancing act (best described as the feeling of balancing on a balance beam).  So in the spirit of the title above here is my last minute holiday gift guide for those of you looking for...

The perfect Sister gift
Get your sister a ticket to #SistersMovie with Tina Fey, Amy Poehler and my bff Ike Barinholtz opening on December 18th.  I was fortunate to be able to go to the premiere and take my real sister (thank you Ikey). Sisters really made us laugh out loud and if you want to laugh with your sister this is the movie to take her too. Perfect holiday gift to enjoy time together!

Star Wars inspired gifts
We all have a friend who loves Star Wars. The movie actually opens up on the same night of Sisters but there is room to see both movies! So make sure you take that advice from me ;) This rave metal silver clutch by Glass Handbags (also worn above) has a patented built-in lighting system in the inside of the clutch to help you navigate all your holiday parties.
This jewelry below by John Brevard focuses on connecting people by revealing patterns in human behavior and nature through reflected designs and experiences.

Boy Meets Girl Meets Tattoo Boy

December 7, 2015

I have written a few posts on tattoos here on the blog (and no I still have not gotten a real one). One of the posts covered a fan of Boy Meets Girl who had gotten a tattoo of the brand I created (you can imagine how I felt ...yes you are correct). I wrote that post in 2010 almost 6 years ago! I never knew who the person was who got the tattoo because my screen printer at the time sent me the photo she found. So when I recently got an email from Maria Caligiuri of the lifestyle blog Pami+Me ( a blog that inspires women to be unapologetically themselves) telling me that she had been a longtime fan of my brand and that on top of that she told me, "the brand also has a special personal meaning." I was so blown away that I told her I would want to feature her here on the blog to share this story with you all.

Here is Maria's story...
"When the little plate with the boy and girl silhouette fell off my hoodie, I held on to it when my now husband of almost 4 months were apart 2 years ago for a year. I felt that was him and I. Once engaged last year, I gave it to him telling him that was him and I and he immediately put it around his neck. After getting married, he even got the silhouette tattooed on his arm as part of his sleeve. It's all very personal to both of us and very special. As creator of Boy Meets Girl, I wanted to share this story with you. So thank you for being part of my love story. :)"

"My favorite Boy Meets Girl item is the Coco Logo hoodie, it's so comfy, over sized and warm, perfect to wear with   my boyfriend jeans and white converse sneakers." - Maria

Thank You Maria for sharing these special photos of you and your hubby and his tats in Spain and for reaching out to share your beautiful story with me. These stories keep me moving. They inspire me to keep doing what I love. So Thank You!

I wanted to know more about Maria after she reached out to me.... So I asked her a few questions about the causes she supports, her favorite part of her job, fashion crush and much more. Check it out below:

Causes you advocate for?
I support the SPCA of Westchester, a no-kill animal shelter in my home county in New York. Over the years I've created fundraising events, became a Shelter Angel for Nikki and Paris, two sister pit bulls, assisted in creating their social media presence and most recently I've been highlighting shelter animals on my blog Pami + Me to help the harder to adopt animals get more exposure. This organization is very close to my heart. I am an animal lover and whatever I can do to help even one beautiful dog or cat get a forever home, that's all that matters.

Favorite part of your job?
My job is about building communities and taking company efforts to the next level on social media. As a Social Media Director, I get to know brands on an intimate level and strategize fresh ideas every day. There's never a dull moment, that may be my favorite part of the job. Continuing on trend, I created Pami + Me, a lifestyle and fashion blog as a personal creative outlet. In the blogging world, being able to be candid and share my opinion on topics that I'm interested in is a perk. My favorite part is what it stands for, it pays tribute to the creativity my grandmother Palmira (Pami for short) inspired within me.

What have you learned about the workforce that you didn't learn in college?
Let's face it, you don't really know what the work force is like in college. At least I did not. You will only know what it's like when you're in it. Sure you can have an internship and get your feet wet, but once you get into the grind and realize you need this job in order to build on your career and pay bills you feel diferently about what it really means to be part of the work force.

Favorite all time movie quote?
"You're not the same as you were before. You were much more... Muchier. You've lost your Muchness. - The Mad Hatter

Favorite thing to do in NYC?
I constantly feel like a tourist in NYC, even though it's 25 minutes from where I grew up. There's so much to do and so much to discover and see, that the newness of the city is always present.

If you could live out of the country where would you settle down?
Spain is my heart. It's my roots, my childhood, it's my home. I've always wanted to live as an adult there and work in one of the most fashionable places in the world.

What's your favorite...
-website? Does Instagram count?  (SI: OF COURSE!)
-book? The Shinning by Stephen King and Green Eggs and Ham
 -gadget? my iPhone
 -guilty pleasure? Telenovelas
-midnight snack? anything with chocolate in it

Biggest purchase steal this season?
An amazing turban I picked up in Zara at the Santiago de Compostela store in Spain.

What was your first job in fashion?
Discovering how the footwear world works at Nine West headquarters

Best career advice you've received?
I know you've heard it a thousand times: Dress for the job you want.

Fashion Crush/Muse?
Right now my fashion crush is on Patricia G. (@donkeycool), a style blogger from my hometown in Spain - I love her laid back fashions. She inspires my own style. And my constant is @LovelyPepa

Fashion decompress/relax?
I'm a TV person, so my DVR is usually full of shows I missed during the week. I like to enjoy catching up while going through my international Vogue magazines, I collect them from all over the world.

Proudest career moment?
What's better one big gift or a bunch of little ones? I have a lot of proud career moments that have molded my skillset. From getting a brand to meet its goal to changing the mind of a client about social media. I like to find little victories every day.

Now that you fell in love with Maria as much as I did you can follow her on social at these various hot spots.

Behind the Seams: Q&A with Chloe Lukasiak

October 28, 2015
Photo from Chloe's Instagram
Following up from my latest post Been a little busy x 2...I finally got a chance (ok at midnight but that is how I roll) to bring you this exclusive Q&A with my new favorite 14 year old miss Chloe Lukasiak. Chloe first stopped by to visit me literally the day before the big Boy Meets Girl® NYFW event (which I haven't even had a chance to write to you all about but promise will get too. I did a  small post with Justine Skye here). I have to admit I had never watched Dance Moms before (which is really odd considering my love for dance) so I had to ask my nieces and cousins and one of my employees further about her before we met. Each one of them said, "Stacy you must meet Chloe she is such an inspiration. You will love her!" Because I was in the midst of NYFW madness I didn't get to watch videos on Chloe before our first meeting but I did immediately after NYFW and I promise to watch past episodes on Chloe when I am not working until midnight lol! In our first meeting I did fall in love! Chloe came with her mom on 9/11/15 and she was so poised and mature and I definitely did not feel like she was 14! We didn't get to much time together on that day so we promised each other we would make another date when Chloe came back to NYC which we did on 10/16/15 captured here by Photographer Daniel Edward for Wire & Getty Images. For those of you who follow me here who do not know Chloe and those of you who do follow me here who do know Chloe I am super excited to bring you this exclusive Q&A so you can learn more about this talented artist/dancer, entrepreneur and up and coming actress! Chloe has a heart of gold and is only on to big big big things. I am so happy I was able to make the time to meet with Chloe and learn more about her. In our interview I asked her, "What have you learned now that you didn’t know when you first started out as a role model?" Chloe stated, "You are never going to make everyone happy! Someone is always going to have something negative to say, no matter what."

Chloe also stated that her proudest career moment was continuing to dance when it would have been so much easier to just quit! Chloe it has been so beautiful getting to know you. You are a strong young lady inspiring others everyday. I am so excited for you all to learn more below. Thank you for joining me Behind the Seams. And thank you Chloe for sharing with all of us. P.S. Your mom rocks because Breakfast Club is one of the best movies of all time and clearly she taught you that :) wink wink.

What is the hardest part of your job? Highlight one or all that apply!
Lack of sleep
Long hours/crammed schedule
Finding a good balance between personal life and work
Sometimes I am overwhelmed by my schedule and keeping up with school, but then I remind myself how lucky I am and it all seems worth it!

If you could live in any state in the U.S., which would you pick? California

If you could live out of the country where would you choose? London

Best career advice you’ve received? If it doesn't feel right, say no!

Fashion Crush/Muse? Blake Lively

How do you decompress/relax? Long, hot shower (yes me too and that is what I am about to do right now :)))

My Perfect Boy Gets a Perfect Picnic...

October 12, 2015
A year has gone by faster than I could ever imagine. Three months ago Mother.ly asked to interview me for a story on being a mother and balancing my career. I shared a very intimate part of my life in this interview http://www.mother.ly/articles/boy-meets-girls-stacy-igel-what-my-struggle-to-get-pregnant-taught-me-about-love-and-devotion and for the first time I am sharing it here. I felt it was time to share with you on this blog as Dylan Reid is truly a blessing and for any of my followers who are in the midst of trying to get pregnant or have had difficulties in the past or just want to know about the road I wanted you to know it truly is amazing when you keep a positive mind set. Everyday I look at him in the morning before I go to work and I say thank you! Thank you for your smiles, your giggles, your hugs and the love that is shared. Dylan Reid turned 1 on October 4th. In celebration of this big year I found a company called Perfect Picnic founded by a fellow women entrepreneur and hired them to create the most beautiful setting. I will let the photos below tell the story shot by my NYFW photographer Patrick Neree. Thank you Patrick for capturing Dylan's birthday a bit different then this http://fashionweekdaily.com/boy-meets-girls-nyfw-bash/ lol!
