Boy Meets Girl Meets Tattoo Boy
December 7, 2015
I have written a few posts on tattoos here on the blog (and no I still have not gotten a real one). One of the posts covered a fan of Boy Meets Girl who had gotten a tattoo of the brand I created (you can imagine how I felt ...yes you are correct). I wrote that post in 2010 almost 6 years ago! I never knew who the person was who got the tattoo because my screen printer at the time sent me the photo she found. So when I recently got an email from Maria Caligiuri of the lifestyle blog Pami+Me ( a blog that inspires women to be unapologetically themselves) telling me that she had been a longtime fan of my brand and that on top of that she told me, "the brand also has a special personal meaning." I was so blown away that I told her I would want to feature her here on the blog to share this story with you all.
Here is Maria's story...
"When the little plate with the boy and girl silhouette fell off my hoodie, I held on to it when my now husband of almost 4 months were apart 2 years ago for a year. I felt that was him and I. Once engaged last year, I gave it to him telling him that was him and I and he immediately put it around his neck. After getting married, he even got the silhouette tattooed on his arm as part of his sleeve. It's all very personal to both of us and very special. As creator of Boy Meets Girl, I wanted to share this story with you. So thank you for being part of my love story. :)"
"My favorite Boy Meets Girl item is the Coco Logo hoodie, it's so comfy, over sized and warm, perfect to wear with my boyfriend jeans and white converse sneakers." - Maria
Thank You Maria for sharing these special photos of you and your hubby and his tats in Spain and for reaching out to share your beautiful story with me. These stories keep me moving. They inspire me to keep doing what I love. So Thank You!
I wanted to know more about Maria after she reached out to me.... So I asked her a few questions about the causes she supports, her favorite part of her job, fashion crush and much more. Check it out below:
Causes you advocate for?
I support the SPCA of Westchester, a no-kill animal shelter in my home county in New York. Over the years I've created fundraising events, became a Shelter Angel for Nikki and Paris, two sister pit bulls, assisted in creating their social media presence and most recently I've been highlighting shelter animals on my blog Pami + Me to help the harder to adopt animals get more exposure. This organization is very close to my heart. I am an animal lover and whatever I can do to help even one beautiful dog or cat get a forever home, that's all that matters.
Favorite part of your job?
My job is about building communities and taking company efforts to the next level on social media. As a Social Media Director, I get to know brands on an intimate level and strategize fresh ideas every day. There's never a dull moment, that may be my favorite part of the job. Continuing on trend, I created Pami + Me, a lifestyle and fashion blog as a personal creative outlet. In the blogging world, being able to be candid and share my opinion on topics that I'm interested in is a perk. My favorite part is what it stands for, it pays tribute to the creativity my grandmother Palmira (Pami for short) inspired within me.
What have you learned about the workforce that you didn't learn in college?
Let's face it, you don't really know what the work force is like in college. At least I did not. You will only know what it's like when you're in it. Sure you can have an internship and get your feet wet, but once you get into the grind and realize you need this job in order to build on your career and pay bills you feel diferently about what it really means to be part of the work force.
Favorite all time movie quote?
"You're not the same as you were before. You were much more... Muchier. You've lost your Muchness. - The Mad Hatter
Favorite thing to do in NYC?
I constantly feel like a tourist in NYC, even though it's 25 minutes from where I grew up. There's so much to do and so much to discover and see, that the newness of the city is always present.
If you could live out of the country where would you settle down?
Spain is my heart. It's my roots, my childhood, it's my home. I've always wanted to live as an adult there and work in one of the most fashionable places in the world.
What's your favorite...
-website? Does Instagram count? (SI: OF COURSE!)
-book? The Shinning by Stephen King and Green Eggs and Ham
-gadget? my iPhone
-guilty pleasure? Telenovelas
-midnight snack? anything with chocolate in it

Best career advice you've received?
I know you've heard it a thousand times: Dress for the job you want.
Right now my fashion crush is on Patricia G. (@donkeycool), a style blogger from my hometown in Spain - I love her laid back fashions. She inspires my own style. And my constant is @LovelyPepa!
I'm a TV person, so my DVR is usually full of shows I missed during the week. I like to enjoy catching up while going through my international Vogue magazines, I collect them from all over the world.
Proudest career moment?
What's better one big gift or a bunch of little ones? I have a lot of proud career moments that have molded my skillset. From getting a brand to meet its goal to changing the mind of a client about social media. I like to find little victories every day.
Now that you fell in love with Maria as much as I did you can follow her on social at these various hot spots.
